Group Therapy

Group therapy consists of face to face therapeutic contact with a substance abuse professional and additional peers.

Group sizes range from 3 to 9 clients.

The counseling sessions are designed to meet the specific needs of the individual client involved in the group, and focus on making significant behavioral change to reduce the negative effects of substance use.  The group format allows the client to receive additional feedback from peers as well as to hear additional positive responses to negative behaviors.

A cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling is used.  This allows the client to determine the primary areas of need for change and to take ownership of the individual program.

Sessions are generally 2 hours in length.  Since a brief therapy approach is used, the entire counseling process usually lasts from 8-16 sessions, depending on the client's specific needs and goals.
